Alava Shop Äkäslompolo
At the end of Tindra’s Quest, every explorer finds their way to Alava Shop, a cozy little boutique filled with handmade treasures and northern charm. Here, owner Jenni welcomes families with a smile as warm as a campfire.
Her shop is a haven for local crafts, thoughtful gifts, and small surprises inspired by Lapland’s nature.
Jenni loves supporting local makers and bringing stories to life, which makes Alava the perfect final stop for Tindra’s Quest. When children reveal the secret password, she helps them unwrap their little reward and maybe shares a sparkle of elf magic, too.

Ylläksen Yöpuu
By the lakeshore of Äkäslompolo lake stands a swing unlike any other. Built from sturdy kelopuu and from the wish to make people smile. This beautiful spot, known as Ylläs Swing, was lovingly created by Vesa and Marja Kaulanen of Ylläksen Yöpuu – simply for everyone’s joy.
The swing is open to all, at any time of year. It’s a favourite place for families to pause during Tindra’s Quest, take a photo together, and soak in the Lapland magic. Whether under the midnight sun, the autumn colours, or the dancing northern lights.
Ylläksen Yöpuu continues a long local tradition of warmth, creativity, and community spirit- The kind that turns a simple swing into a little piece of wonder.

Mailan Putiikki
In the heart of the village, right at Äkäslompolo’s crossroads, you’ll find Mailan Putiikki. A true treasure trove of gifts, handicrafts, and Lapland charm. Founded in 1970 by Maila Alatalo and now run by the next generation, it’s the largest shop of its kind in Ylläs.
Here you’ll discover beautiful handmade pieces from natural materials like wood, reindeer antler and leather, kelo pine, and glass. Each one unique, each with a story to tell.
During Tindra’s Quest, families stop here to solve one of Tindra’s riddles, and often find a little something special to take home as a memory of Lapland.
